The price is right but this is not a professional tool. I used it because our multimaster was out of blades. I had to do a demo job for some gem boxes and had to go through three layers of 3/4" material (pocket door enclosure). Not only did this tool heat-up to the point I could not hold it, it killed two blades doing one box. I then got the multimaster delivered to the site and yes, it did strain, but it got the job done. This tools is ok for home owners/weekend users, but that's about it.

The blade might be better than the Dremel MultiMax. When I tried cutting through some wood screws, the machine heated up so much that I had to stop and let it cool down. I was using low speed with little success in cutting off the end of a screw so I incresed the speed - the blade heated the screw so much that sparks started to fly and the surrounding wood began to smolder. Not a job for the Dremel - I resorted to a hack saw. Probably longer but better than burning the house down. Just be aware of limitations. I wonder how the more expensive Fein machine would perform?

I had started a remodel of my master bathroom and got to the drywall part of the project. Having some logistics issues with the drywall around the tub and the shower surround I decided I needed some kind of small cutting tool.. SO to Amazon I went. I ordered it around 7 Pm friday night and had it shipped overnight (with Prime it was only $3.99 more!), and it arrived around 8am saturday. Which was awesome...I needed to get the drywall done this weekend. Cutting the drywall with the Multi-Max was great...perfect cuts every time. I also used it for scraping and cutting wood, cutting nails down to the studs, etc. WOW! I could have used this over the years! I would recommend the Multi-Max to anyone!

Out of the box I loved everything about this tool. I immediately went to my workbench and practiced using it. About two weeks later I used it on my first real project, removing grout. It started leaking oil from the shaft. I returned it to Dremel and requested a new one. However, they quickly rebuilt it and returned it to me without an explanation of the problem.

Only time will tell if the fix they performed will hold up or if I have to spend another $10 to return it again.

I got a Dremel to get the grout of our shower floor. Floor has the 1" X 1" tiles and the grout lines are about 1/8 " wide. It did the job but it still took quite a while to do. Not as easy as I thought it would be. I did have to buy a 2nd grout blade a the first one wore down after about 2/3rds of the way. Had to keep rotating the blade to use sides of it that weren't worn down. Overall, it did a good job. No problems with the blade slipping.

This holder works well, but it wore out fast on the tips.

I am careful to hold the pad flat on the surface, but the tips still tend to wear...this is really easier said than done.

The little hooks are pretty much shot on the tips of the triangle on mine, and this one I purchased was a replacement for the first one. I probably went through about 2 dozen pieces of sandpaper.

As with many replacement parts and accessories, these are pretty expensive.

This seems like a pretty good deal on these. If you have used these Dremel blades then you probably know they don't seem to last all that long. They cut well at first and then they start to burn. Make sure you don't hit any plaster or drywall with your new wood blade. At a package price of about 7 bucks a blade you save a bit over buying them individually.

I used the Dremel (Bosch) multimax on a finishing job in a bedroom and two walk-in closets. It made cut-ins under the door casings a dream: no false cuts, no mess, using the new flooring as a leveling guide. When I needed to do some butchery on interior closet walls to straighten bowed 2 x 4 king posts, I removed sections of drywall with the semi-circular drywall cutter: minimum dust, straight cuts, preserving the removed piece of drywall to reposition after the surgery was complete and the wall straightened. To remove old mastic from the flange-sides of access panels, I used the scraper blade: it lifted the old mastic beautifully without gouging or scoring the plastic.

Only problem I encountered was keeping the detent bolt tight: the vibration seemed to shake it loose, especially when used for cutting wood. One must check it frequently for tightness, keeping the Allen wrench at hand.

The replacement cutters are available at Amazon. They seem a bit pricey, but are competitive with other manufacturers' products.

I bought these additional blades to supplement the ones that came with my Dremel Multi-Max that my wife bought me for my June birthday. The tool itslef is outstanding! While not as large and "industrial" as the Rockewell or Fein models (which cost a lot more), for a homeowner who also volunteers as a Habitat builder, the tool is as versatile and effective as it claims. The blades themselves are fine. However, it's obvious at this price they are not made of Titanium! The original combo wood/metal cutter became too dull to use after cutting through a few dozen mid-size nails. It would be nice if the manufaturer offered a more durable (even if more expensive) set of blades. However, I am completely satisfied with the tool and this set of replacement blades.

When I was done installing 12in. ceramic tile on job I was working on, I noticed that in many areas the mortar had filled in the grout joints. I used my Dremel Multi-Max with the 1/8-in. carbide grout blade. It performed great. It removed everything much faster than using a grout remover hand tool. One thing to be careful of is that if you don't have the blade perfectly square with the tile you can chip the face. Take your time and keep your hands steady.

Used to remove the grout from an area with approx. 1/2" joints. It was so easy and relatively clean. It would be so easy to use this on smaller joints to just take out the top portion in order to "regrout". This would give your entire kitchen a makeover (could even go back with epoxy stain resistant grout for easy care). Love this tool all together - so handy during my wood floor installation. Wished I would have bought it earlier in the project.

I love this tool. For the few times a year that I need this type of tool, I didn't want to spend the money on Fein or Rockwell. It cuts very nicely. Most of the Dremel blades are designed so you don't have to remove the screw completely to insert them. OEM and non-OEM replacemnt blades are available at all major home centers and even on eBay.

The tool is well worth the money, granted its not as powerful as the Fein but then again its 25% of the cost and replacement blades can be found anywhere from Walmart, HD and Lowes. I used mine for detail sanding and for cutting the door jambs for doing a hardwood floor install and could not be happier with the results and use of the tool. There is a washer to assist in the blades loosening. Just email Dremel and they will send one out asap. GREAT TOOL for awkward fizes and places that are hard to get to.

This tool is perfect for the weekend DIY-er, but is most appropriate for very small jobs. I have had success with short cuts in light wood (builder's doors, flag poles, particle wood) and the tool is a convenient size for these jobs.

My only problem so far was when I tried to cut an inch off the bottom of an interior solid wood door. The tool got the job done, but with a fair amount of sweat and elbow grease. I haven't had any problems yet with it overheating, but the tool does get quite warm to the touch. Also, because this is an oscillatory tool, the saw has a tendency to jump around if not held firmly in place when making cuts.

The sanding feature is nice, as the triangular shape of the sanding pad allows for access into corners. However the sanding pads are velcro-backed and are specific to this tool. So replacing them could be costly if you have a larger job and will require multiple pads.

Overall, I've been pleased with this tool as an addition to my collection when breaking out the circular saw seems like overkill. I would definitely recommend this tool for quick jobs around the house with its limitations in mind.

I bought this item as a gift for my son-in-law who is a plumber and carpenter. Due to health issues he cannot work as he used to and has gotten depressed. After seeing this item and reading reviews about it,& watching videos on the dremmel site, I thought it would be a good tool for small craft and home repair jobs to pick his spirits up. The tool did not perform at all as advertised in videos on the dremmel site. The scrapper did not work well, had a difficult time removing old glue and dug into the wood very badly causing damage to the area being worked on. The wood/dry wall saw blade was another real disapointment. It took over 1/2 an hour to cut through a 6" length of dry wall!! It had very poor power. Oh,yeah, the way the attachments go on, with the bolt on the bottom, prevents being able to get flush work as advertised. I thought this was a reputalble brand name that I could count on and it wasn't. I am disappointed beyond my ability to describe.

A must for removing LOTS of area of carpet pad adhesive on concrete! Just rolls right off. Love this tool. This tool is larger than the flexible scraper and able to work on bigger areas. I think the flexible scraper comes with the tool - but it will eventually break from heat and vibration on big projects. So do yourself a favor and just order this one if you have more than one room to do. :) Goodluck

I recently replaced 23 windows with 2 rigid scraper blades. They are easy to re-sharpen when you wear them down. I preferred the rigid to the flexible for dealing with 30 yr old caulk and plaster that got in the way. It seems nothing can stop the little tool that could.

The flexible scraper that comes standard with the Multi-Max is great for tasks such as removing caulk from walls and other applications where you're removing something that is semi-rigid - the flexible blade helps get under what you're trying to remove much easier than a ridgid blade.

But, there's some tasks where you need a thicker scraper. The rigid scraper is more heavy-duty, and works well when you want to remove things such as dried adhesive or thinset from a subfloor. It's also good for cleaning out the corners of a plunge cut or scraping dried/caked on grass from under a mower. The edge lasts a lot longer than the flexible scraper.

I am a Remodeling Contractor and I purchased this Dremel blade as an alternative to the more expensive Fein blades, as they will fit my Fein multimaster. My hope was that they would do as well as the Fein blades, which are ridiculously over-priced. Unfortunately it seems the Fein blades last slightly longer so I will probably go back to using the Fein blades for cutting harder materials like oak and maple-and use the dremel blades for less difficult materials like solid white pine or plywoods.

One of the things I discovered is that I do really need the blade to have an offset-the flat blade certainly limits how I can use the tool.

This is an excellent blade for cutting drywall -- quick clean cuts and a minimum of dust. I used it extensivly when cutting out damaged sections of drywall for replacement. It leaves a very clean edge so you can fit in the new section neatly and hide the seams. Also used it to cut thin sheets of plastic (1/4 inch) and it did a great job with smooth clean edges. Just don't force the tool -- with any MultiMax cuts, take it slow and steady and you'll be happy with the results.

I've also used it on wood and it's a decent performer for light-weight jobs and softwoods. The 3/4 inch wood/metal blade is better suited for tougher wood cutting tasks, but this will do the job (albeit slower). Less expensive than the other wood blades, which is a plus.

This product worked perfectly to remove grout that a tile installer had used in corner joints in a shower that were too small for the 1/8 blade that came with the tool. It quickly removed the grout so I could replace it with caulk and stop the leak caused by cracked grout. One of the best purchases of a tool for a specific project I have made.

This was perfect for my shower and counter tiles. They have thin grout lines and so obviously the 1/16th blade was the right one for that. Floor tiles would usually require the 1/8th size.

The carbide grits held up for about an hour of work and still are fine. I even used it flat like a rasp to modify some saltino (pretty soft) tiles and that worked well. I wish Dremel had a true rasp like some other companies offer to grind down the thinset under the tiles you remove.

This sort of tool and blade is not for huge nasty demolition jobs, you would want an angle-grinder and diamond blade for that, but it is great for renewing a few grout lines, allowing a couple of tiles to be removed without damaging the others, all without a room full of dust.

This accessory is not overly expensive for what it does and also because it will likely last for a long time in typical homeowner use.

I'm not sure this could be a whole lot better, so it gets five whole stars.

"The perfect tool for the job" 2009-07-11

I got this blade to remove some damaged grout and to remove grout from around a broken floor tile in the kitchen. These are heavy tiles, so the grout is thick and about 3/8 inch wide.

My wife was really concerned that I would end up cutting into or otherwise damage good tile. Never a problem.

This was absolutely effortless, fast, and allowed surgical precision. No kidding. The control this offered was astounding. Since the tool doesn't rotate, it can't grab or run. It goes ONLY where you want it to go.

Also, since it doesn't rotate, it doesn't kick up a cloud of dust. This is not to say there is no dust - there is. But, it stays right in the area you are cutting. One tip here is to keep a small paint brush handy to gently brush back the little bit of dust from around your work area to keep your work clearly visible. From there, a quick vacuum hose will pick up the dust.

After a couple of minutes, the grout was completely cleared and my skeptical wife was amazed that this tool could go right to the edge of the tile and do it perfectly without touching the tile. It is THAT good.

I got the 1/16 inch blade in case I need to do narrow grout work in the bathrooms, but if you are working on broader grouting, you may want to opt for the 1/8 inch blade.

I always wanted the rockwell multi-tool same thing as the dremel multi-max, but when i saw that dremel finally came out with it iv trusted dremel for many tools before and the 2 year warranty was an extra, the famous dremel speed setting was an extra also. The speed control allows you to have good control and outcome on any project, corded is constant power, unlike battery losing power.

I bought for my father for ofcourse fathers day and not only was he happy but the bathroom project has been no sweat and easy now.

My best friend also got it and we used it on an elctrical installation project and actually cut though a 2x4 which does not say it can do but let me tell you, it did the job. highly recommended, definitely stealing it from my dads shelf once in a while. great buy since this kit from amazon was the only one that had such many accessories.

This tool does a great job. The tool was of great help to me in dismantling a 1960s era "built-in-place" set of kitchen cabinets which otherwise would have required destructive removal. This tool allowed me to make strategically placed cuts, including around nails, in order to remove the cabinets in reusable modules. All that being said, I strongly recommend that you wear earplugs when actually cutting into something. Get a set of the bi-metallic blades because as soon as you touch a nail, the regular wood blades are dulled. Also the tool gets very hot - almost too hot to hold - up were the blades attach, which means you have to hold the tool farther down near the middle which sometimes makes it difficult to be very precise in placing the cutting edge. I wish there was a semi-circular bi-metallic blade, and it would be great to have a blade that would be usable for cutting cement backer board.

I just received this item and it is as good as new at a little more than 1/2 the price. That would be fine except that it does not come with everything that the new one came with. The half curcle blade is the best but costs $ 10. + at Home Depot, so if you have to buy it (came with the one) it is not as good a deal as they advertise.

Two examples of why Dremel is still the unquestionable leader in mini-rotary tools:

I recently bought a 4000-3/34 and I wanted to use the chuck I had been using on my old 395 instead of the collets. It didn't fit through the hole in the nosepiece of the 4000, so I took off the nosepiece and enlarged the hole. I wasn't satisfied with the 'quick-and-dirty' job I had done, so I contacted Dremel in Palm Desert in order to buy a replacement nosepiece. Without any questions they told me they'd send it right out to me at no charge as warranty service. When it arrive it was, unfortunately, the wrong part. Well, that's happened to me before, with other companies' tools, so even though they had been good enough to provide it for free (and the tool was working fine as it was) I decided to try again. And again, they told me they'd send a replacement at no cost with no questions or reluctance. Within a few days I had the right part, and I did a better job enlarging the hole (I subsequently discovered that the chuck they're selling now will fit the stock nosepiece).

The reason I had bought the 4000 is that my venerable 395 had broken down and I needed to finish a job without delay. When I opened up the 395 I discovered that there was a "flexible link" between the motor and the output shaft, and it had stripped. It was a short piece of flexible plastic tubing with internal splines to engage the metal shafts at both ends, and it was shredded inside. Initially I thought this was a regrettable design flaw, but I realized that it's just the weak link to prevent the user from damaging more expensive parts by challenging the tool too hard. Anyway, when I went to order the part, the woman who answered knew immediately what I was referring to and was able to complete my order efficiently. She even pointed out that, with the cost of the part being so small compared to the shipping (which was minor as well), I might consider ordering a second one. She encouraged me to leave the second one in the sealed package to prevent it from weakening from oxidation, and it would be ready to install if I should ever need it. Considering how old my 395 is, I'm not worried about that being any time soon. The parts arrived in a couple of days, and my 395 is back in action. And, considering how nice an upgrade the 4000 is, I don't mind having been forced to become the owner of two Dremels.

Dremel tools are well-designed and well-built, as long as the user works within the limits of their appropriate use (these are not industrial die-grinders). Craftsmanship is more a matter of patience and care than brute force. But any tool will require service at some point, if it's used a lot over the years, and that's where a manufacturer shows what they're really all about. With the kind of service I've received, I'd say it's no wonder that no other manufacturer has made much of a dent in the mini-rotary tool market. Dremel makes good products in the first place, and they back them up well. I'll never even consider buying a Dremel-like tool from anyone else!

this item is only good for small jobs. i found that you have to tighten the collet nut down pretty tight if you are cutting something big (over 1/2 inch thinkness) because if you don't the bit will loosen up. also it cuts at an angle because when you tighten down the screw thing that adjusts the height it puts it at an angle. had a hard time cutting 1/2 thick piece of wood with it so only for small jobs.

I haven't used this a ton yet, but have cut some drywall with it and I think its great. Very easy to take on and off the dremel, very easy to adjust how deep you want the cut too.

Of course you can cut drywall without this tool, but now that I have it and see how easy it is to control the dremel this way, I would not want to go back to not having it

The 3/8 blade is perfect for when your working in a tight space and need precise control over the cut. It was the perfect blade for me to clean up and make a perfect (well, reasonably perfect) edge when I was replacing some wood floring. I made the main cuts with the regular size blade, but needed to clean out the corners and undercut the backside just a touch. I'm sure that a skilled carpenter could do that with the regular size blade, but since I don't fall into that category, the smaller blade was just the ticket to make the job a lot easier.

This is not a blade that you'd want to use for major cuts - other Dremel blades are more suited for that. This is intended for more limited, precision work in spots where the normal size blades won't fit comfortably. Also, it's a wood only blade -- you'll blunt it quickly on metal.

I received the Dremel Max as a gift as I had some difficult exterior molding repairs to do. The tool came with a 3/4" wood blade which worked like a dream. I was able to cut a straight edge when removing a section of the molding that was rotted (bottom of a garage door and basement entrance door). You have to keep a steady hand and keep the tool level when making the cut, but it is very doable for even a wood-working novice like myself. I felt the narrower 3/8" blade would come in handy on future projects. In-store video on this tool hit multiple types of jobs where I needed this tool. Definitely recommend.

"Dremel 3/8-Inch Multi-Max Wood Blade" 2009-08-07

There are two dinky spot welds in line with the 3/8" blade that hold the blade to the larger piece that attaches to the "collar" or whatever you call it that attaches to the machine. When doing any sort of plunge cut (which this blade would seem to be designed for) the oscillation of the machine will shear off the spot welds. I sheared off two of these before I wised up. I sent one of these to Dremel with a letter explaining the shortcomings of their design and received a nice form letter and a new blade. If you want a 3/8" blade, you would be much better off taking a wider one and using a cut off wheel in your Dremel cutting it down to the width you want, making it look more like the Fein blade. Versatool makes a very good bi-metal blade that is a much better, much stronger blade than this Dremel blade.

I read a few reviews of the vise being made of plastic and that it wasn't very solid. The reviews gave me low expectations. I didn't want to buy something I'd regret.

At my local home improvement store, I saw and reluctantly tried a display. The solid feel and the range of grasping angles caught me by surprise. I wanted a vise that could bend to fit my projects, this is it. Much impressed by the demo, I took one home right away.

Now realize, this is very compatible with rotary tools in that it's not meant for heavy duty work--like bearing down and ripping through 2x4's. Perhaps 'vice' is a misleading word in that regard--this isn't a hunk of metal bolted to a bench. This is a 'rotary tool multi-vise' which is an accurate description of this product--a multiple position clamp/holder for rotary tool projects.

I've used this vise for wood working projects (custom guitar parts) and cutting bolts and other remodeling work. The vise is absolutely fine, solid, and reliable. The plastic bits are hard molded and there is a fair amount of cast metal. The blue contact pieces of the clamp are the 'soft' pads. Those are removable and give a good amount of cushion and support to hold your project. There is an attachment to mount the tool instead of the clamp. You can also use the clamp independent of the base. The clamp slides along the rail when you hold a release button and squeezes to a firm grip with the knob.

Like I said, I was against this product, but once I tried one it was a perfect match.

first use was to hold a cookoo (sp) clock while i was repairing the ballasts. this was obviously old, and as the vise mounts anywhere, i was able to attach it easily to a table AWAY from everyone else. the vise left no marks afterwards due to its pressure adjustment handle, as this is a wooden clock. so, summary - this is an excellent light duty vise.

I bought these to cut nails during some demo work where the recip saw couldn't go. They worked fine for cutting nails. The package says they work best for non ferrous metals, but they seem to be able to cut 10d nails and drywall screws with no problem. I wouldn't use them to cut large pieces of steel, but then again, I wouldn't use the Multi-Max (regardless of blade) to do that either.

The only real con is the cost per blade.

I purchased this item to use to file my dogs' toenails. Every time I try to use it, the battery pack separates from the body of the tool, so of course, the tool stops running. I've tried several different ways to remedy the problem but have not been able to come up with anything that works. Also, even when it is fully charged, the battery only lasts long enough for me to do one dog's nails. I found the switch a problem as well as it doesn't "lock" into each position of slow, off and fast and was therefore difficult to turn off. I was unhappy with this product almost immediately upon using it and I have replaced it with a Dremel with a cord.

I have the corded Dremel, but because of the cord it has limitations, so I bought this. I RARELY use my corded Dremel anymore. I only use this one now. It's amazing AND you are not giving up very much. Battery life is great, and torque is really strong. I am able to use this in any application, and the only time I go to my corded one is if I forget to charge this one. I have used this to cut through pipe, trim out wood, score tile, and much more. It's so easy to use, and so versatile that I am always finding new uses for it. It is also very well made. Mine gets knocked around a lot and even fell a couple of times and it still keeps going. I highly recommend this to anyone who has a home or does any kind of DIY project.

My sole purpose for buying this tool was to trim the toenails of my two large dogs. That it does very well with the least amount of stress for my dogs and the most ease for me.

I did have a problem with my Dremel, as the battery portion would come loose from the top grinder part as I was using it (the battery and tool clip together). I thought at first I was squeezing it too hard to cause it to release, but it turned out to be defective. Dremel, the company, was very apologetic and told me to send it back to them. They sent me another one within a short amount of time (2 weeks).

I bought grinders in the past that burned out in year (Craftsman brand) (the rechargeable batteries wouldn't hold a charge) right after the warranty was up. Dremel is warranted for two years, which is much better. It should not be asking much for 5-10 minutes of grinding on toenails every other week to last for many years. But at least I now know that the Dremel company stands behind their products. Since I did have to pay $12 for shipping and confirmation to send it back, I have to take away a star.

I cant say I am that happy with it. I was expecting more power. I the scraper did not work that well for me. I dug badly into my wood trying to use it. I used the drywall cutter that was easy to use not as fast as I thought though. The sander was good for small projects. I damaged the tip of the base pushing on it in the corners of the stairs make sure you do not do this. Not expensive for a new one if you do though.

During my installation of a new screen door, I found that it wouldn't be able to close without cutting out some of the wood frame all around the door. After chiseling the jamb a little at at time, I found that I would have to cut about 1/2" off the jamb. I did one side in a couple hours and called it a night. That night I thought about the Fein MultiMaster 250 Start Power Sanding and Scraping/Cutting Tool info-mercial and how that tool could be a big help in cutting the jamb in-place since I didn't want to remove it and didn't have a table saw to cut it anyway. So, the next day I went to Home Depot and purchased the Dremel 6300-05 120-Volt Multi-Max Oscillating Kit for $109. I would have bought it from Amazon, but I wanted to finish installing the door right away.

USE: The Dremel is quite easy to use. The attachments are not quite "quick-change" since you have to use an (included) allen wrench to loosen a screw and place the "bit" under the washer and onto 12 pegs (which helps secure the "bit" into place) then tighten the screw to secure it. Cutting was fairly easy; I used the rectangular shaped wood and metal cutting tool, but it was a little difficult getting the "feel" of where it was cutting once it was into the wood a good amount. (Now that I think about it, perhaps I should have used the circular wood cutting tool or at least tried it, duh.) The tool is multi-speed (1-10) and cut through the wood pretty easily (on 8 speed). The sanding "bit" was a little more of a challenge to get on as it required the complete removal of the screw and washer assembly in order to get the sanding pad on. I don't know if my pad is a little defective, but it was a little difficult to get it on the pegs. Once on , however, the tool did an excellent job of sanding the frame down to a nice smooth finish. (Although one corner of the "hook & loop" pad got totally wrecked - its a good thing there's three corners to use.)

OVERVIEW: Overall, I was satisfied with the tool. It cut quite well and sanded great. Putting on the attachments was fairly easy, except for the sanding pad. The product description on this site says that it creates low dust, but it made a good amount of dust. Though that is expected when cutting wood with a high speed tool. And it also said that it was quiet, but the next time I use this tool, I am using earplugs because at that high rpm (close to 20,000) it pretty much screams when cutting and my ears felt like I was at a rock concert afterward. I would also recommend a dust mask and closed eye protection for the dust. For the price (cheaper than the competition), the Dremel did a good job and is, to me, a reputable, trusted brand.

I have only used this tool 5-6 times since I bought it, but I'm surprised at how useful it is. Just last night I used the scraper attachment to take old tile off a bathroom floor. Then I used the wood cutting attachment to trim the bottom of a door frame when I was putting in some thicker flooring. I really haven't run into any negatives with this tool. Before I bought this, I had read several reviews stating that the attachments had to be continually tightened and a few that implied the cutting tools didn't work that well. I haven't had any issues with attachments vibrating loose, and I ran the scraper for 20+ mins at over 3/4 max speed. I also think that some people might've had trouble with the cutting attachments if they tried to force the tool to cut instead of just allowing the tool to do the cutting. In any case, I'm very happy with the purchase.

Points of interest:

Large quantity of cutting/sanding/grinding wheels

SOME very useful individual pieces.

Points of contention:

Part count includes many multiples of the same items. Im not so sure that everybody needs 3 dozen sanding discs.

it would be nice if some of the more robust cutter accessories were included.

oh god the case! what a poor use of space! luckily the part trays can be removed. eventually i shall relocate them.

i tried the other one and it was on full speed all the time

so i could not adjust the speed for the job i wanted to do

and actually the speed of 35.000 rpm is very high ,

so if you are ok with that buy the other one .

I have had two of these in a week, both returned. The switch is a big piece of crap, the first one lasted one day before all it would do was to turn it on and off. I returned it and got another, it lasted two days before doing the same thing, I guess by variable speed they mean on and off, so I have no idea why the switch has multiple settings. I really like the shape and balance of this tool, very easy to use, its a shame they forgot about quality when cost cutting. The tool has a four year warranty, but the switch can't make it past day two, no more Dremel for me. I will try the B&D or Proxxon version, I'm sure either one will last more than two days.

Sorry to offer negative remarks, but I was so excited to find this Dremel at a good price for my husband's birthday and disappointed at it's performance. When he first started it up, it vibrated and was so noisy he was ready to ship it back. He's had Dremel's before and always satisfied, just about wore his old one out. So don't know what the problem was, maybe just a lemon because the Dremel product has always been good. Just not this one.

I bought this dremel for a very specific work related purpose. It is basically required for performing repairs on my laboratory equipment. Anyway, it works well, and even though it gets wet and covered with aluminum oxide, it has stayed working and in good condition. If you need this tool, you know why you need this tool and nothing I say will really change it. If you don't know what it is, chances are you don't need it. Basically, it is a low torque turning motor, used for polishing, shaving, and sanding small items, like fine details on something or assembly of small models. It comes with a nice set of tools, most of which I won't ever use. However, it is a decent tool and I got it at a decent price compared to the retail stores.

I bought this for my husband as a gift. He has several projects to do in our winter home where he plans to use this. He hasn't used it yet but he has been satisfied with the previous dremel tools he has had. The case needs improvement. There are several small pieces that come with the tool and he has bought more. The case does not provide a good way to store these. In fact it has a false bottom with holes in it that allow the small pieces to drop into the holes. It is extremely difficult or maybe impossible to retrieve anything that drops into the space between the false bottom and the outside case. My husband puchased another set of accessories that came in a nice case that will hold all the small pieces.

Got this to work on stone and ostrich eggs for crafts, had to change a battery in a car and had one of those rusted on bolts and the only way to get it off was to saw it so got out the Dremel and appropriate blades. Worked like a dream and got new battery installed! Am ordering the flex attachment so it's easier to get into tight places and for my craft work as well. Well worth the price.

I own the Fein Multimaster, but thought in the long run, it may be cheaper to buy and maintain the Dremel version. As most people know, the Fein tool is expensive, and hard to justify if you use it only occasionally as the family handyman. It is in a league well above the Dremel tool however. As soon as I started my first cut with the Dremel, it was obvious it was $300 cheaper than it's Fein counterpart. The price of the two units really says it all. You are definitely getting a high-end tool with Fein, and an "affordable" version of the same product with Dremel. My Dremel is back in it's box, and I just ordered new attachments for the Fein. EVERYONE is making a reciprocating tool now, and short of buying a Fein, I would advise that you definitely check them all (price v. quality) as best you can before purchasing.

I bought a Gerber Suspension at Walmart on clearance for $11.00 and that was too much for the tool. The wire cutters are worthless and dull. I couldn't even cut bailing wire. Incredibly heavy.... Handles are awkward and spring loaded, when you squeeze on the pliers you have a spring fighting against you and they want to open right back up. The tool is also made in china so who knows how reliable the workmanship is. Get yourself a leatherman.

Just bought this a few days ago. I was looking for a decent priced solid multi tool. Despite what some other reviewers said, it was delivered and looks fantastic. Its clean, no defects that I was able to notice. Everything works including the scissors. An A+ multi tool for 26 dollars, and its gerber, can't complain about that. I recommend this if your price range is about 30 dollars.

I picked this Gerber up the other day and have been very impressed. I used to have the Leatherman Ultra tool and it was great for years but after losing it, I went to get another Leatherman and saw this Gerber for substantially less money. I gave it a shot have have been impressed. I am glad that Gerber has refreshed their design in the past years. I remember their old spring-loaded models back when I was in the Army in the 90s and they were always breaking or getting clogged with mud, etc. This is a nice design and for under $30, you can't beat it.

There is a problem with the pliers on this model. I purchased two and while crimping something with the pliers they snapped. The other attachments are great such as sheet rock saw, small flat head screw driver work great but flying pliers parts do not scream quality.
